  Bullet list of major (recent) changes

  it is with great interest that i recently read ceders article on the decline of the wts.

  his article along with many of the comments really drives home just how many major changes there have been in a fairly short peroid of time.. somewhere in the recent past i could swear that someone had posted a bullet list of major changes with the corresponding year.

  when i saw this (or something like it) my first thought was that this simple list made it all the more shocking; and since i have searched and cannot find anything like it.. so i dug around and started one of my own, please feel free to add/corrects events.

  (kinda like, "can you find the differences between these two drawings" for kids in the sunday comics).

  yeah in the section on attending the convention, you will find this gem:.

  "therefore, we should give attention to our dress and grooming while in the convention city, including when we check in at the hotel.

  arriving in shorts and a t-shirt would not reflect dignity.".

  after briefing reading the original post on this thread http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/224030/1/do-i-have-this-right i asked myself the following question:.

  the watch tower bible & tract society publishes in its writings, as of late, that the governing body/faithful & discreet slave must be obeyed to gain jehovah's salvation and favor.

  the gb/fds are comprised of imperfect, spirit guided men whose teachings are to be accepted as truth.

  OTWO - thanks, your post made me laugh out loud.

  I seriously wonder what the discussion is when they decide to bring out new light, particularly the absolutely absurdity of the overlap generation nonsense. Surely, one of the old guys must say 'are the R & F really going to buy this?' and then he must be reassured that, yes, they will.

  You raise an interesting observation. I wonder if you're correct that the two changes in 2008 and 2010 were planned out ahead of time to make them more palatable. I still can't believe the majority accepted the 2010 change. It blows me away. It just makes no sense.

  Barbara, thanks for the perspective. Some of my family "served" in Bethel and I always thought it an apt term as I would sometimes tell others they were in prison. I can't even imagine what a living hell my life would have been there with the even greater amount of rules.

  There are good and bad people everywhere including Bethel. I found many to be nice and also others, including family members, to be absolutely unsufferable with their arrogance and displays of "piety".

  So what do your Jehovah's Witness friends and loved ones think of the generation teaching?

  after the little skit at the last assembly where one brother was asking another for understanding about the generation teaching i thought, "wow, these people will believe anything the watchtower tells them.

  " the 'more mature brother' practically said verbatim everything the watchtower said as his explanation.

  evidently, this is one of the sources of the increased 'murmuring' that the talked warned against.. so, has anyone brought this up to their witness friends and/or family?

  I firmly believe it is one of the most ridiculous things ever printed by the Watchtower - and that's saying a lot. It shows the extent of indoctrination and cult control that these people can continue to support an institution that would publish such an absurdity.

  I used to still go to the Memorial but stopped after this was published. That was it for me. Tonight will be the second one I will miss.

  I thought it wasn't until 1918 that he was cast all the way out and that's when he incited the authorities to inprison the Watchtower officials.
